Review on 'Pucking Around' by Emily Rath
Pucking Around by Emily Rath
I wanted to start my first blog with an EXTRA spicy one. This book has some pretty intense themes for so-called "fluff" readers. This book is based on one of my favorite themes that most fluff readers enjoy.... HOCKEY BOYS!!!! And not just one, there are THREE, now this blog will be based on my honest thoughts about the book, but I will try not to spoil too much about the book's contents in general. Let's get into the book's plot, and then we will deliberate, shall we?
In this novel, we follow around a 27-year-old sports medicine practitioner named Rachel Price. We follow her love story (or stories) with Jake Compton, Caleb Sanford, and Ilmari Kinnunen. She ends up in this tangled love triangle that is a story of ups and downs as well as INSANE spice. This 756-page. The book is not for the sexually squeamish. This is not a softer fluff read, and it has some pretty intense moments, so I would recommend looking up the warnings for this book and deciding for yourself if this is your cup of tea.
NOW, for my personal feelings on this book. To begin, I would give this book 5 stars when it comes to spice. In this book, you could barely make it a chapter or two without some type of steamy scene taking place anywhere....and I mean ANYWHERE! These book men are absolutely insane and so different in many ways, so it kind of has a man for almost any fit, I would say. The only boy I was not the fondest of personally was Kinnunen, aka "Mars". The only reason is because he is the "bear" make character, now granted I am super weird with that opinion, but I felt he was way too possessive with the story theme and how the boys are expected to share. But as I said, that could totally make one of you fall in love more. Another aspect of the book that I was not as into was how it seemed like CONSTANT chaos in this poor girl's life like damn can't a girl catch a break! It seemed like the only relief from the plot twists was sex, so the plot itself was a little muddy, BUT if you enjoy the smut more than the story, then this book is up your alley.
The plot I did enjoy was Rachel's relationship with Caleb in the beginning. Caleb was the broody boy that needed a little more work to get to, and I just LOVE those characters. They have a little more depth to them and feel a little more realistic in my head. I wish we had more time with those two. I feel like it would have been so much more fun for me if we had seen more of them. But I do understand why it took the turn it did, which YOU, as the reader, will have to find out. All in all, I did enjoy this book, and I would give it a personal rating of 8 out of 10 and I will be reading the sequel and other books revolving around this series. So, if you like this review, there will be more, do not worry!!!
